My distilled thoughts.
Thoughts manifest themselves before senses know & before intellect can touch them.
They are like the air bubbles sitting beneath a lotus leaf.
You notice their escape and popping at the surface only when you are calm enough.
This “Micro Blog” is my attempt to write down some of those thoughts.
Here's a list of Biographies I have planned to read

There are no grown ups
"Grown ups" is a fraud
An exquisite lie.
Crafted by a child who has reached a hilltop,
and now, doesn't want to relinquish the tree house he built.
No one knows everything.
No one knows half of it.
Everyone is half-blind.. at least..
Groping at reality to make sense out of it.
We just learn new things as we come across it as a hurdle.
Falling into the trap, that someone who stumbled into it before us is the grown-up in the room.
A child doesn't accept he is a grown-up
Accept the child.
Yes. Childishness is ok too.
Wisdom is avoiding death before we stop breathing.
Vegetarian violence
Living consumes living
Plants are alive
Plants however have no voice
They do cry when cut
Would you stop eating, if you heard the leaves screaming in your salad bowl ?
Rishi Bhrigu speaks about it in Jaiminīya Brāhmaṇa
Spirituality : note to self & lessons learned
Go to basics.
Go to those who have yearned answers badly.
To those books that have stood the times.
Avoid interpretations that haven't been challenged.
Vedas - Upanishads in particular.
Question everything.
It's ok to not understand.
It's ok to not agree.
It's ok still, to agree that which breaks existing beliefs.
These breaks will remove shells.
Reduce to the core.
Shed the layers.
Accept what can't be shed.. yet..
Mandukya upanishad
Ashtavakra Geeta
Meditation is not sitting in one place and becoming a rock.
Neeti-Neeti - not this, not this
sã vidyã yă vimuktaye - if it doesn't liberate it's just serving ego
Aham Brahmaasi
No one's coming
No one's coming.
No one's coming to save you.
No astrologer can predict your future.
No mentor has walked your path.
No one has a secret shortcut.
No one loves you more than you're closest few.
You have to rely on those closest few.
Maybe one.
Maybe two.
It's mostly you.
Start now.
Look around.
You is all you got.
You've got all you need.
"You" are enough.
This, for all those waiting on a sign, astrology, numerology, religion, any other *ology, some Guru, stuck waiting for someone else to come & save you.
Some life lessons/rules I abide by
- Don't tolerate B level performance. Not from others and never from yourself.
- Keep your head down & continuously learn+implement.
- Stack sats.
- Love your kids & spouse - give them so much love that they understand what a home should feel like.
- Don't be impressed by someones spending - there's always a higher spender. What one spends on a luxury vacation is another rich person's dog grooming money. Zero sum game.
- Don't try to impress anyone.
- Take care of your parents.
- Save at least 40% of your paycheck.
- Buy the best quality clothes - they last longer and are in style a lot longer too. I like to wear good clothes for myself.
- Write. Writing is thinking.
- Don't be around people who consider sadness as a medal of honor. Their low value of life is infectious.
- Be the high-energy/low-ego person you want to see around you.
- Read. Fall in love with reading. Books are indeed your best friends. Read biographies.
- Acknowledge that you are the kid and are still learning new things. Everyone acts like grown up, but they all fake & lie to themselves.
- Invest only long term. Don't trade unless that's your career.
- Unless it's a technical degree, big name universities will sell anything under "Executive" education. It's just adults trying to play "be impressed with what I bought from a fancy store that you could learn for free on YouTube".
- YouTube premium subscription for learning is a secret weapon.
- Find the best people in each field and follow them on Twitter.
- Only eat when you are hungry. It's the only diet you need.
- Find excuses to walk. Go downstairs in your home, apartment complex, office building using stairs.
- Only buy gifts for others that you would buy for yourself or for your closest family.
- Always tell yourself the truth and acknowledge when you are trying to hide something from yourself. That's meditation, every other definition is the snake oil.
- Read Upanishads. They have timeless wisdom about us, our thinking & maybe our final destination..
- Be the person to take notes in the meeting. Doesn't matter what role you are in. Taking notes gives you clarity & retains the value of the meeting for you a long time after the meeting is all forgotten.
- Reject meetings without agendas. These organizers haven't thought through what they want and want to push basic thinking to others. It's usually a mark of a B player.
- Do everything amazingly. Everything - from folding clothes to creating a strategy. It'll seem like waste of time at first, but it'll sharpen your focus in a year like nothing else. No work is small.
Integrity : Every action you take, however small, increases or decreases your integrity. Mindfulness is not just a fad, it has very real implications.
When shit hits the fan, either stop shitting or stop the fan. Covering your head and running around the room seldom helps.
Bored ?
Go over your TODO list.
If TODO list is boring, you haven't added an 'actionable item' to your TODO list.
Do that right now since you are bored anyways !
If evolution was flawless, our farts would be odorless. A smelly fart would only attract predators, and, drive away everyone around you who could possibly save your ass ( pun intended ).

Norm Brodsky’s 10 Commandments of business
- Numbers run a business. If you don’t know how to read them, you’re flying blind.
- Cash is hard to get and easy to spend. Make it before you spend it.
- Don’t focus on the top line. Gross margin is the most important number on the income statement.
- A sale isn’t a sale until you collect.
- When your short-term liabilities exceed your short-term assets, you’re bankrupt.
- Forget about shortcuts. Run a business as if it’s forever.
- Identify your true competitors, and treat them with respect.
- You have no friends in business, only associates.
- Culture drives a company. In the long run, the boss’s most important job is to define and enforce it.
- The life plan has to come before the business plan.
World without hate
- Ever seen a valley without peaks - probably not. And if one exists it's not as beautiful as a valley with peaks
- Stagnation is death. A world without hate has no where to flow.
- Don't wish for a world without hate. In-fact love cannot survive without hate. As soon as you say Love, hate is born, and vice-versa.
- Let there be a balance of love & hate inside you. You will visit the deep valleys of love and you'll also climb the stormy peaks of anger.
- You will need both. You cannot eat sweet for the rest of your life, you will need some salt.
- Don't fall for a saint, he is confused if he says that world should have nothing but love. He has just swung way too much to one side. One day he'll swing back. And eventually find the balance. In that center, is the peace and calm.
Life changing habit -
- Keep a work journal - Any tool will do, EverNote, OneNote, a notepad; anywhere other than your memory
- I've surprised at myself, to see how much more productive I am when I can find things in less than 60 seconds
- Especially true when running a complicated project which runs 6+ months
If nothing is impossible, something being 'impossible' is possible. Hence there is something which is impossible !
And the reply was - 'All I will be known for, will be for what I did, and not for what I have'.
Saying this he threw away the backpack, his last possession, and ran away with a wide smile on his face..

In the vast fields of Today.
I see patches of sorrow.
So I toil and sow the seeds.
To blossom bliss Tomorrow.
Artificial Intelligence
- We will create machines smarter than us in the next 50 years.
- The question is - should we ?
- Yes, we should, we as humans have to go where we previously haven't.
-
However, a few questions should be thought of first :
- Should we provide them autonomous status - same rights as humans ? If we don't then we'll be creating a species of slaves. Can our conscious allow us to do that ?
- If we provide them the same rights as humans and if the machines commit crimes, who is responsible ? The machines themselves or us ? On a second thought, do Gods blame themselves for our sins or is it all our responsibility ?
- If they create another species, the way we created, who will be responsible for their actions ?
- Will these 2nd generation species look at us the way we look at an elephant ? Beautiful, but at the end a simple organism, who won't understand the complexities of our world. Will they ever say - 'Lets destroy their forests(buildings) and build ourselves a city.'
- If we don't sit and think about this, we will face the same fate as that of an over-enthusiastic crazed person who runs towards a cliff trying to see what's down below and he has no control on his speed.

Show me you aren't doing this just for the sake of doing it!
Show me your work matters to you !!
Show me that you effing CARE !!!
Don't try to find a saint in a Human. You'll be disappointed.
There was no perfect human born.
Humans die first; and usually then someone makes them perfect.
When was the last time you had an original idea ?
Not regurgitating what you read, not blindly rethinking what you saw on the internet, but pure unadulterated original thought ?
Where do I see google 50 years from now ?
My search query is a thought and I get the answer as a summary read/shown to me.
It connects my search to the history of my searches understanding what I was trying to search.
e.g. oh you are searching for 'BCAA because earlier you wanted to know what protein shake is good for you post workout'
I ask for processing data in my thoughts and the data mining happens without me writing an app./hosting it.
Millions of such projects are created and destroyed in a day - Google becomes my extended brain.
One question for making the correct decision in software projects : 'If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over.'
Get shit done.
Get shit done.
Get shit done.
Doesn't matter how small.
Doesn't matter how boring.
Doesn't matter how technical.
Doesn't matter how non-technical.
Get shit done.
'A project manager in IT industry does not need to be technical.'
Holy pickled farts...
Only if there was a 'wronger' statement...
Deep down people want to work with people who so deeply care about their work..
The ones who care about every design decision
The ones who care about how we write an email to clients
The ones who are curious all the time..

What would XYZ think about me ?
Reasons why you shouldn't be bothered with this question :
- You are trying to show XYZ someone you aren't - Don't
- Step back and think why you won't have this question in your mind for people you love !
- It will change XYZ's opinion about you - Let it be, conserve your true self
- It'll hurt them - hmm.. now you are talking, talk to them in that case. You would if you really cared, so go have a heart-to-heart.
99% of the time though, XYZ is too busy with his/her life and has no time to think about you !
His forehead had faint lines.
You could see them, but probably won't feel them if you touched.
Hers had none.
Clean.
The seed of optimism had sprouted and there were only a few tender leaves brightly looking up.
Last few winters were harsh, but the green in the leaves was still fresh.
There was a long road ahead of them.
Surround yourself with what gives you joy. If it doesn't, get rid of it. If you don't know if it gives you joy, get rid of it. House, office, work, play - the rule applies to all.
One habit every 21 days, one mini goal every 3 months, one major competency every 3 years. Upgrading self by the calendar.
Diversity, if you are working in a software company should mean -
You are recruited only if you know how to :
a.) Code with comments
b.) Debug
c.) Build
d.) Understand basic design concepts
e.) Deploy
e.) Most importantly : Not be an A**
Above criteria will satisfy all other diversity criteria automatically.
Whoever says Microsoft sucks, has usually never used OneNote. It is one of the most intuitive note taking editor ever to run on my laptop. This is especially true for me, because I thrive on keyboard short cuts & rarely use the mouse. I avoid using mouse because it slows me down immensely. OneNote just works whether I need to create a simple list, table or take meeting minutes. Hats off.
